Indicating The Scope And Content On What I Have Learned

Over all the discoveries and learnings in this quarter, I learned a lot, and through this quarter, I became proficient using each of these different types of communication. As hard and time-consuming as it was, I genuinely believe that ICT was very beneficial to me as a student. This quarter helped me transfer my skills to other forms of communication. I learned a lot about things I hardly knew existed before, and the stress that I felt is completely justified, knowing that I have learned and grown so much.

For me, creating webpages is a completely different kind of communication than video, sound, or photography. Webpages are both a form of communication, and a frame to highlight other forms of communication. Therefore, designing webpages is a very difficult task, because you need to think about what your webpage is communicating, as well as if your webpage is enhancing the other forms of communication that are displayed on it.

However, it is difficult to learn and use HTML. As a beginner, learning even the basics of the code was very challenging, because it was nothing like anything I had ever done before. Through research, I slowly grew to have an understanding of them, but there is still much more that I could learn. Using and learning HTML has given me the utmost respect for web designers and any job that deals with computers or the Internet. I no longer take for granted beautifully designed and easy-to-use websites. Through this quarter I have gained insight, not just concerning communication, but also how difficult working with computers and the Internet really is.

Moving on, I will keep what I have learned through this quarter and do my best for the next quarter. I hope to see myself improving and performing better than what I am today.

Viva Vigan

A festival or commonly known as a “Fiesta” is an expressive way to celebrate rich heritage, culture and traditions and play an important role to add structure to our social lives, and connect us with our families and people with different race or backgrounds. Fiesta celebration is already part of our tradition. Festivals are their way to give thanks to the patron saint for the abundant blessings or to celebrate the start of something. And celebrating yearly does not only let them say thanks for the blessings they receive but also gives Filipinos hope for a much better tomorrow.

The Vigan City Fiesta is held every January 25. It is celebrated during the feast day of the conversion of St. Paul the Apostle. St. Paul is Vigan City’s patron saint. Before his conversion, St. Paul was known as Saul, a zealous persecutor of Christians. After he was touched by a personal encounter with Jesus Christ on his way to Damascus, his name was changed to Paul and he endured a lot of hardships and danger to spread the word of God to far places.

Unfortunately, this year's festival have changed since the COVID-19 pandemic started. It's been tough for all BigueƱos, adults and children alike. So it's important to keep celebrating and getting together in creative ways. Just some are done by this year with strict steps scheduled during the Kannawidan Festival, such as trade and fairs, sports fest and Saniata ti Ylocos Sur Pageant Competition. Although as enforced by the authorities, whenever going to public places, individuals are recommended to wear face masks and face shields.

This year has been like no other year, it has been full of the unexpected and things have happened that no one would have ever expected. The celebration of this year and last year is different from the past years, we must understand the fact, we need to adapt to the new normal. Follow and obey the health protocols enforced. For now, safety is our number one priority. Priorities and understanding always comes first.

A Year Changes Me A Lot

We are humans with good and bad bundled together. When a child is born in the world, the heart is pure and it takes in whatever it observes while growing. When we get matured, it is time to shape ourselves into a good person. New Year is something that we all look forward to. It is the day where people decide to make new resolutions for their life and plan to fulfill it throughout the year. They leave all the bad experiences behind and decide to start over. They hope to live the coming year by improvising and starting over with more motivation.

As we all gathered and celebrated, everyone enjoyed themselves and adored each other. Laughing filled the household and everyone wore red jumpers to bring positive cheer, we was ready for the new year. Drinking red wine and eating ravish red gammon, the night couldn't of been any better. Whilst watching the countdown for the new year, we was just moments away from starting a natious new year but they came. Last year, 2021, has been a hard year for almost all of us considering pandemic affected our lives in multiple ways. But with the arrival of a few approved vaccines, many are feeling hopeful about getting back to a sense of normalcy.
If you're motivated to change this New Year, pursue it. Setting goals and making plans to achive those goals are important skills for creating brighter futures. Pair your action plan with fun external factors, or create detailed plans. This year can be something which I could not fulfill last year but something realistic.

Christmas in a Pandemic

Christmas season is approaching! However, we are still in the in middle of a global pandemic that turned our life upside down. Christmas merriments in the Philippines are different, unlike in previous times. This would probably be one in contemporary history when we are encouraged to celebrate the Christmas season in its essence, in its simplicity.

Christians and Catholics celebrate Christmas Day as the anniversary of the birth of Jesus of Nazareth, a spiritual leader whose teachings form the basis of their religion. For Christians and Catholics alike, it is one of the most awaited season of the year. It is by far one of the most sacred religious holidays and a worldwide cultural phenomenon. However, this year’s Christmas celebration and the whole holiday season will no doubt be different. With the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic, the pressure on the festive season is higher than expected. Most definitely, the coronavirus pandemic indeed left almost no one, no occasion even Christmas and the holiday season, and no countries – even the most Christmas feast loving country –the Philippines, unaffected. Hence, all these taken together, one way or the other, are the very reason why Filipinos can’t celebrate Christmas this year like they used to do. Indeed, the COVID-19 pandemic has been a downer.

But a global pandemic doesn't have to ruin the festive season completely. We can still celebrate Christmas this year in our own little ways. Indeed, despite the pandemic and the various difficulties it has brought to the the world, most particularly in how Christmas celebrations and festivities have been altered and restricted to some extent, still, the essence of Christmas remains the same. Christmas in the time of the pandemic still means giving, loving, and renewed hope that the future will be brighter and better. It still means charity and goodwill towards all humankind especially those who are less fortunate especially now in this time of the pandemic.

Harm Of The COVID-19 Crisis On Children

The Covid-19 pandemic have significantly disrupted the daily lives of children and adolescents, with increase time at home, online learning and limited physical social interaction. It harms physical and mental health, with the poorest children, including homeless children, hit the hardest. School closures, social distancing and confinement increase the risk of poor nutrition among children, their exposure to domestic violence, increase their anxiety and stress, and reduce access to vital family and care services. While not a category at risk from a medical viewpoint, children are significantly impacted by the ongoing COVID‑19 pandemic. This brief aims to capture some key issues and propose early steps that governments can take to mitigate negative consequences for children, especially the most vulnerable.

Immediate government measures need to ensure that children have access to good food, receive protection against child abuse and neglect, have continued access to child physical and mental health services, and can navigate safely on the internet. Policies also need to support parental employment since it is key to fighting child poverty. In addition, COVID‑19 may present serious challenges for inclusive growth as the poorest children are likely to be hardest hit and their heir life chances severely limited, unless immediate and comprehensive measures are taken. From a purely medical perspective, early evidence suggests that children are not the most affected by COVID‑19.

As the COVID‑19 crisis spreads around the world, it is transforming children’s day-to-day lives. The pandemic and the associated policy responses of confinement and social distancing touch on almost every part of children’s worlds. To this end, protecting children’s privacy and safeguarding their personal data is essential for their well-being and autonomy and to ensure that their needs are met in the digital environment.

A Healthy Environment Causes Less Strife

Everything that surrounds us is defined as the environment. Therefore, the natural resource around us on earth is our environment. There are a lot of valid reasons for which we need to protect our environment. Our environment has suffered the curse of pollution, exploitation of resources, and many other things. Saving our environment is the only key for sustaining humanity.

In preparation of National Clean Up Month, it is our duty to take some important measures and save environment for future generations. Our goal is to get the environment back to its rich resourceful nature. These are some methods we can employ in saving the environment: applying and promoting 3R's (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle), participating activities aimed at saving the environment, planting of trees, and inspiring other people. Using these resources cautiously is very important to save the environment. It is everyone's duty and responsibility to protect and preserve the environment for present and future generations.

All natural resources are very important to life that there would be no life without them. By saving our environment, we are only saving ourselves. Saving the environment will enable the nature to thrive again and reduce the survival needed. We can only save our environment through proper management and sustainable development.

Build Upon What I Have Learned

Throughout this quarter, I have learned a lot about internet. I have enjoyed and develop my knowledge and understanding in each of the different lessons of this subject. It enabled me to look further into specific topics which I don't really know. In this quarter, we made and post our own blog and wrote reflection about topics pertaining to the internet. What are the learning/discoveries that I have gained? What are the problems/challenges that I have encountered? How did I address this challenges? This are the questions that are stuck on my mind for this several days.

The learning/discoveries that I have gained are the history and importance of internet. The internet has proved to be a spawning ground for a large and growing number of "e-business" that carry out most of their sales and services over the internet. Internet can make you have a more comfortable environment. With the Internet, it's possible to access almost any information, communicate with anyone else in the world, and do much more. The problem/challenge that I have encountered is making blog. Blogging requires patience, dedication, creativity, marketing skills, and so much more. Lack of quality content, not having a clear topic, absence of feedback, and so on. This are the main problems I have encountered in making a blog. I address these challenges by investing a lot of effort and keeping patience.

Internet helps me knew what is fact and true informations and knowledge development. And it affects my development of attention, memory skills, abilities for critical reasoning, and reading. Moving on, I will imprint this on my brain and I will take this until my aging, because I might need this and it might help me in the future.
