Building A Resilient Community

"For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes in places. All these are the beginnings of sorrows." Matthew 24:7. Humanity has long sought to explain and understand why environmental processes and phenomena contribute to and interfere with development and livelihood processes. These are the world’s greatest wonder that human reason cannot explain; the marvels of world no one can rationalize.

Surviving through hunger, sickness, and poor crisis management being lauded as a show of resilience in our country. Awareness is what drives people to action. It is our responsibility to continue doing our best to be socially aware, educated, and updated on the different issues around the country. But looking into the brighter side, this does not only cause us hardship but is inculcating us with significant lessons in our lives making us realize the importance of people and things around us. As for the government, without them, there is no one to guide us, no one will observe the orderliness of the society, and no one will support and fight with us head on. We will not survive this long without the government that is binding and keeping us together. As for us Filipinos, being disciplined, honest, responsible and resilient citizens is a must during this times of dilemma. Being able to act in a proper manner and being able to withstand the pressure and consequences led to us by this challenges and problems are the values that we should bear. The observance of these proper values can lead us to be connected with every resident and showcases our survival instinct to help each other as one family in the community. Proper knowledge on our current situation is essential. Having the right amount of information to face such circumstances can lead us to a better path on how to engage in these situations. Information is a necessity in guiding us on what we should do and how should we act in order to carry on.

“But do not lose sight of the reason. God is not destroying indiscriminately: He is punishing the world in love and in measure – to help mankind ultimately turn from the paths of destruction towards the way of truth and peace.” Cooperation, harmony and faith are what we need in this kind of dilemma. We must believe and do what is right and reflect for our wrong doings. These are only challenges to test and strengthen us. He never gives tasks that we cannot surpass. Despite this time of uncertainty and distress, the good Lord always keeps us under the shadow of His mercy. May this crisis bring out the best in us, not the worst; to live by faith and not by fear; to build bridges not barriers. And may we not forget our responsibility to one another, as brothers and sisters, as a Filipinos, we heal as one.

Learning Innovation

The world is adjusting to a new reality. The Covid-19 pandemic has provided a lot of circumstances globally that is affecting every aspects of lives of the countless citizens, families, and students. All students, teachers, and parents are feeling the ripple effect of the novel strain of coronavirus as the schools are going closed and precautionary measures are being ordered to cope with this pandemic. While governments and health officials are binding and keeping us together, and doing their best to provide quality education for all during this pandemic.

Equality in education has been affected. The education system has been challenged in all parts of the world, but we must not forget that, from each challenge, an opportunity for improvement arises. Closing school is the most obvious implication of the pandemic. Rapidly ramp up online teaching and learning is the only way to determine how quality in education can be sustained. Many students and even teachers do not have an internet connectivity, a cellphone, a laptop or other things that is needed in online class, but others do. What we need to avoid, or minimize as much as possible, is for those differences in opportunities to expand and cause the crisis to have an even larger negative effect on poor student's learning.

The world faces significant challenges in addressing the immediate and longer term effects of the pandemic on education systems. But the dedication of global education in finding new and innovative ways to deliver quality education should provide us all with a sense of hope. If the all of the education community can come together and learn from each other about new ways of providing quality education, it will emerge better equipped to help students thrive in a rapidly changing world. The Covid-19 pandemic has shown that the world of education is full of inspiring innovations.

The Ambitious Me

My name is Mikaella Jhade Corpuz, born and raised in Busiing Norte, San Ildefonso, Ilocos Sur. I am a grade-10 student who wants to design, build, and execute structural works that serve the general public in the future. I am a kpop fan and one of my idol said "The only time you should ever look back, is to see how far you've done." What have been your biggest mistake? Is there something that you've dreamt of doing for a long time but you cannot do? Sometimes we look back for the wrong reasons, such as not accepting for what you've done in the past. Whatever the reason may be, don't blame yourself and it's time to accept it and move forward. All of those things were part of your growth. Let them guide you in the direction you want to go.

Watching movies and k-dramas was one of my recent hobby. I was passionate about it especially to those dramas that get me in my feels about family. The reasons why I love watching these days is, it helps me learn new things and helps me understand what life is about. I feel like a whole new being changes. It makes my mind improve and make me think better decisions. Furthermore, movies are widely detailed. As far as I know, there are movies for anything you want to watch. There are action, comedy, romance, thriller, horror, fantasy, and many more. Watching to me is like a form of therapy. It is the best tool for escaping reality. Watching movies create a feeling of happiness and make us people laugh. It is always one of the best kind of entertainment. These days, I am also an active k-pop fan. I stan and support many groups, especially boy groups. The first thing I love about them is their own unique flavour, catchy music videos, and meaningful songs. K-pop introduced the new trend in the music industry. Through their reach, records and aesthetics, the skyrocketing k-pop movement manage to connect people through a shared love of music and cultural. I may not be that good in dancing, but k-pop also boosted my confidence through dance.

I am always positive even on my ups and downs. I always make a bright and bubbly face to inspire other people to be happy even on their worst days. We have to be understanding on every situation we're on. Successes and failures are closely associated with one's achievements and losses. If you achieve anything today, you lost a thing yesterday. There is no completely successful person without his/her failure. But, I believe that every failure made us all stronger. I have learned a lot from my mistakes. I never regard my failure as a curse rather an opportunity to improve and to improvise. What I have learned is the importance of passion, dedication, confidence and time management.
